About the Role:

Common Cause is seeking a relational and strategic Senior Manager, Organizing to join our Campaigns & Organizing department. This is an exciting opportunity to use your expertise in movement and power-building to provide direct coaching, develop resources, and evaluate organizing work across multiple states.

The role reports to the Senior Director, Organizing, and will act as a force multiplier for state-level organizing efforts. You will help build a stronger, unified, and effective organizing program while supporting staff, volunteers, and coalition partners. This position can be based in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, North Carolina, or Texas and requires frequent travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead people-power building efforts across states, including recruiting, training, and sustaining a diverse base of volunteers and members.
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with community leaders, partners, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent Common Cause in coalition spaces and lead coalitions when required.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans leveraging organizing strengths, tactics, and new approaches.
  • Lead components of the national organizing strategy, including leadership development, base-building, relational organizing, partnerships, strategic actions, and program evaluation.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to interns, volunteers, and team members to support team goals.
  • Analyze state-level organizing effectiveness and propose actionable solutions.
  • Provide customized support plans, coaching, and technical assistance to state teams and organizers.
  • Develop scalable organizing curricula, toolkits, and resources for the organization.
  • Facilitate peer learning and knowledge-sharing across states.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Experience leading grassroots organizing and base-building efforts at the state level.
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate trainings, and coach organizers to improve impact both in-person and virtually.
  • Knowledge of state political dynamics, key decision-makers, and existing relationships preferred.
  • Experience managing coalitions or diverse stakeholder groups to achieve goals.
  • Track record of leading organization-wide change initiatives.
  • Experience in state-level organizing campaigns related to democracy, elections, voting rights, or civil rights.
  • Understanding of the legislative process in at least one state.
  • Experience managing staff, interns, and/or Fellows.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the year and maintain a professional social media presence on behalf of the organization.
  • Familiarity with office tools including Microsoft Office, Slack, and Zoom.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $97,850 – $113,300 annually (with geography-specific adjustments)

This is a full-time, remote position with frequent travel to state offices and team meetings across the country.
