About the Role:

The Pennsylvania State Director will lead America Votes’ efforts in Pennsylvania by collaborating with partners to develop and execute coordinated campaign and advocacy strategies. The Director will manage the state coalition, oversee campaign planning, and provide leadership to advance progressive priorities across the Commonwealth. The role requires strategic vision, coalition management, and the ability to lead diverse partners toward shared goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Campaign Strategy: Develop and implement statewide and ballot-level electoral and voter education plans; monitor and report on outcomes.
  • Staff Management: Mentor and manage the Pennsylvania team, including work plans, professional development, and goal alignment.
  • Coalition Leadership: Convene and facilitate collaboration among partners; expand coalition membership and partnerships.
  • Equity & Inclusion: Integrate racial equity into coalition and campaign strategies; support BIPOC-led organizations.
  • Election Modernization: Support legislative advocacy and partner efforts to modernize election systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • 7+ years of electoral and advocacy campaign experience (at least 2 cycles in statewide leadership)
    • Expertise in field program management and direct voter contact strategies
    • Proven coalition management and political judgment
    • Track record of advancing racial equity in organizational or campaign work
    • Strong staff management and mentoring skills
    • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and conflict resolution skills
    • Resilience and flexibility in adapting strategies
    • Strong writing, presentation, and data synthesis skills
    • Willingness to work long/irregular hours and travel frequently within Pennsylvania
    • Proficiency in Google Suite or MS Office tools
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with funders, reporting, or presentations
    • Knowledge of Pennsylvania politics and legislative processes
    • Familiarity with vote-by-mail, digital programs, and voter contact technologies
    • Experience managing unionized staff

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $114,000 – $115,000/year (negotiable based on experience)
