Down-Ballot Recruitment Director at Leaders We Deserve

About the Role:

The Down-Ballot Recruitment Director will lead a strategic initiative to identify, inspire, and support young, values-driven candidates for local and state-level offices. This mission-critical role involves candidate recruitment, pipeline development, onboarding, readiness support, and strategic collaboration with campaign, communications, digital, and organizing teams. The role also includes hosting info sessions, managing outreach pipelines, and providing training and mentorship to prospective candidates.

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of experience in campaigns, organizing, or political recruitment.
• Deep networks or lived experience within Millennial and Gen Z communities, with a track record of building trust across race, class, gender, and geography.
• Passion for local politics and down-ballot races as a lever for structural change.
• Strong interpersonal, digital organizing, and event facilitation skills.
• Comfortable using digital organizing platforms, CRMs, and political data tools (e.g., VAN, Mobilize, Reach, Airtable).
• Extremely dedicated to electing young progressives.
• Creative thinker, self-starter, detail-oriented, and highly communicative.
• Nice to have: Experience with BIPOC youth-led movements, prior campaign or training experience, or prior caucus/state legislative campaign experience.
