About the Role:

The Data Scientist will join the Analytics team to support national voter mobilization efforts using advanced data analysis, statistics, and machine learning. This role reports to the Deputy National Data and Targeting Director and works closely with analysts, engineers, and program staff to provide actionable insights and advance racial equity in all data operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis projects from ideation to presentation, producing clear reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models to provide new insights for voter contact and program logistics.
  • Collaborate with Analytics, Data Support, and Engineering teams to improve processes and automation.
  • Evaluate predictive models, with a focus on racial equity and fairness.
  • Coach and mentor team members in data science best practices.
  • Integrate racial equity considerations into all data projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Two or more cycles of data/analytics experience in campaigns or progressive organizations.
    • Expert SQL skills and cloud data warehouse experience.
    • Strong R or Python coding skills with modular, well-documented code.
    • Experience applying statistics and machine learning to large, messy datasets.
    • Strong collaboration, communication, and equity-centered approach.
    • Ability to work irregular campaign-style hours and travel as needed.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with geospatial data, causal inference, or complex data products.
    • Experience with Streamlit or similar frameworks to build interactive tools.
    • MLOps experience to productionize machine learning models.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $100,000 – $115,000/year (dependent on experience)
