About the Role:

Beyond Petrochemicals is seeking a Communications Director to lead a strategic and impactful communications program. This role includes developing and implementing national communications strategies, managing media relations, overseeing a team, and amplifying the stories of communities impacted by petrochemical pollution.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies
• Manage a team of staff and consultants across media, digital, and creative services
• Lead earned media, digital campaigns, and storytelling initiatives
• Coordinate with partners, funders, and grantees on messaging
• Represent Beyond Petrochemicals in media and public engagements
• Support campaign goals through strategic communications planning

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or journalism
• Experience coordinating national communications projects and campaigns
• Proven storytelling, media outreach, and digital content skills
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear communications
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred
